Welcome to Live Tayyib. By accessing or using this website, mobile app, or related services (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Developer
Live Tayyib is developed and operated by KabiqTech LLC, Chicago, United States ("KabiqTech," "we," "us," or "our").
2. Intended audience
The Service — including this website and the mobile app — is intended only for customers located in the United States. It is not directed to users outside the U.S. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you do so at your own initiative and are solely responsible for compliance with local laws. We make no representation that the Service is appropriate or available for use outside the United States.
3. Nature of the Service
Live Tayyib is an informational lookup tool. We display packaged-food product data and automated text matches drawn from third-party public sources and curated editorial seed lists. The Service is not a medical, dietary, religious, laboratory, or regulatory certification service. Nothing on the Service constitutes medical advice, a diagnosis, a safety guarantee, a religious ruling, or a determination that a product is lawful, safe, Halal, non-Halal, or free of any substance.
4. No Halal certification
Live Tayyib is not a Halal certification issuing authority and does not certify, audit, or endorse any product as Halal or non-Halal. Any "Require a Halal source check?" (or similar) flags are automated, informational matches based on ingredient label wording and a curated reference list of animal-derived or source-ambiguous ingredients. They are not a fatwa, scholarly ruling, laboratory analysis, or substitute for certification from a recognized Halal body.
A "Yes" on this flag means the label appears to contain (or may contain) ingredients that come from animals or whose animal/plant source is not clear from the wording (for example meat, poultry, gelatin, or animal rennet/enzymes). Plain milk, butter, and simple milk products do not by themselves trigger this flag. In cases that do, you should verify Halal status with the brand or seller. If a brand confirms the source, processing, or certification status of an ingredient in a way that addresses a flag shown in the Service, you may disregard our informational flag for that product. A "No" / absence of this flag does not mean a product is Halal.
For religious dietary decisions, consult a qualified scholar or a recognized Halal certification organization, and verify directly with the product brand when needed.
5. Data sources
Product and risk information shown in the Service is collected or derived from the following third-party resources and curated seeds (and may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrectly matched):
- USDA FoodData Central — Branded Foods — primary catalog for product names, brands, barcodes (GTIN/UPC), categories, serving information, and ingredient label text.
- IARC Monographs (International Agency for Research on Cancer / WHO) — classifications used for informational ingredient matching (Groups 1, 2A, and 2B, via curated seed data).
- California Proposition 65 (OEHHA) — cancer-related chemical listings used for informational ingredient matching.
- Curated editorial seeds — including other ingredients of concern and Halal source-check cues (animal-derived or source-ambiguous ingredients matched against label text — not certification databases).
- Open Food Facts — remote product photo URLs (images are loaded from their CDN; we do not host product image files). When a barcode is missing from USDA Branded Foods, we may also show product name, brand, and ingredient text from Open Food Facts via their official API (Open Database License / ODbL). Community-contributed OFF data may differ from the physical package; always verify the label.
We do not independently laboratory-test products. We do not create the underlying product labels or chemical classifications. Matches are automated against ingredient text and may produce false positives or false negatives.
6. No warranties
The Service and all content are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, Halal status, or uninterrupted availability. Third-party data may change without notice; our copy may lag behind the source.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, KabiqTech LLC, Live Tayyib, and their operators, contributors, and affiliates disclaim all legal liability arising from your use of the Service or reliance on any information displayed, including product ingredients, alcohol signals, cancer-risk flags, Halal source-check flags, IARC or Prop 65 matches, photos, categories, or barcodes.
You assume full responsibility for any decisions you make based on the Service. We are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary damages — including loss of health, data, profits, or goodwill — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Misrepresent Service output as a medical diagnosis, religious ruling, or official Halal (or other) certification;
- Scrape, overload, or disrupt the Service or its APIs in an abusive way;
- Use the Service for unlawful purposes.
9. Intellectual property
The Live Tayyib name, site design, and original software belong to KabiqTech LLC. Third-party data and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners (including USDA, IARC/WHO, OEHHA, Open Food Facts, and product brands). Display of such data does not imply endorsement by those organizations.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms at any time by posting a revised version on this page. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
